Sinclair Research Limited was founded by Sir Clive Sinclair in 1979 to design, develop and market major innovations in consumer electronics and, subsequently, personal transport. Major highlights include: the Sinclair Executive calculator, the world’s first truly pocket calculator; the Sinclair ZX80, ZX81 and ZX Spectrum computers (which pioneered the home-computer wave, the last being the first computer to sell a million units globally), the Flat-Screen Television and Zike, an all-electric bicycle. Each stems from a tradition of innovative design, miniaturisation and ultra-low cost.
Since 2000, Sinclair Research has pursued two principal research directions:
• Continuing development of its electric propulsion technology for an expanding range of applications.
• In personal transport to deliver major innovation in the development of an entirely new generation of ultra light-weight folding bikes.
